Pakistan, China and Afghanistan have agreed in a tripartite meeting in Kabul to enhance coordination for implementation of projects of trilateral practical cooperation within the ‘Belt and Road’ and the Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (Recca) frameworks.
At the second China-Afghanistan-Pakistan (CAP) Practical Cooperation Dialogue, which concluded in Kabul on Tuesday, the three sides agreed that policy communication, infrastructure, human resources, livelihood building and people-to-people exchange were the five key fields of trilateral cooperation.
The two-day dialogue was chaired by Afghan Finance Ministry Director General Mustafa Aria, and attended by Chinese Foreign Ministry Director General Xiao Qian and Pakistani Foreign Ministry Director General Mansoor Ahmad Khan.
According to the Joint Press Release of the Second Round issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad discussion was held on the objectives, principles and areas of trilateral practical cooperation.
During the tripartite talks, specific projects of trilateral practical cooperation were identified and all the sides agreed to enhance coordination towards their implementation.
“The three sides agreed that the aim of the trilateral practical cooperation is to support the peaceful reconstruction and economic development of Afghanistan, to further strengthen the relations and to promote cooperation among the three countries within the ‘Belt and Road’ and the Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA) frameworks,” the statement said.
“The three sides agreed to enhance communication, coordinate China and Pakistan’s assistance to Afghanistan on the basis of fully taking into account Afghanistan’s priorities, carry out trilateral cooperation projects, gradually strengthen the mechanism building for trilateral cooperation, and to provide security for the trilateral cooperation projects.”
Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan met with the heads of the three delegations, the Foreign Office said. It added the next round of dialogue will be held in Islamabad.
