The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is expected to decide on continuing the work of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in a day.

However, Islamic Emirate officials say UNAMA has not been successful in fulfilling its mission so far and they hope that it focuses on the key challenges of Afghanistan.

“UNAMA shouldn’t always look at the issues of Afghanistan from a negative point of view, they should take into consideration issues in which we have made progress; we have achievements; we have security and stability, and that the people of Afghanistan are in a good economic condition compared to the past. UNAMA should be a partner of Afghanistan, not always be critical and always use their channel for preparing propaganda,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, IEA spokesman.

“So, we ask UNAMA to change its policy regarding Afghanistan and cooperate with Afghanistan more effectively,” he added.

In the last meeting of the UN Security Council on Afghanistan, the majority of the council members supported the continuation of UNAMA’s work in Afghanistan because they believe that UNAMA’s existence is important for delivering humanitarian aid, ensuring human rights and forming a comprehensive government.

UNAMA’s mission in the country is extended annually by the UNSC members.

Meanwhile, the mission of this organization in Afghanistan will end in four days (March 17th).
