Pakistan has approved extension of Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA) for another six months, tweeted Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan on May 26.  He also added that the decision reflects Pakistan’s strong desire to enhance bilateral trade and transit which will particularly bring prosperity to the people living in border areas.

The step is expected to enhance the bilateral trade relations between the two countries and assist the neighbors to develop their economies because regional trade in South Asia is significant for the prosperity of bordering countries.

It is imperative that regional trade and transit stays non-politicized and is not hampered by the political relationships shared by the countries, because trade can be an effective tool to achieve peace.
