Pakistan has enforced a ban on the entry of Afghan freight vehicles without valid driver visas at all trade crossings with Afghanistan, effective August 1.
According to an official notification, Afghan trucks will be permitted to operate only on temporary entry documents until August 31. The policy shift follows a one-year grace period granted by the Ministry of Commerce for Afghan drivers to obtain proper visas.
Meanwhile, authorities in Quetta have announced a crackdown on Afghan nationals residing illegally in the city.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by the deputy commissioner of Quetta, which reviewed the repatriation process of Afghan refugees.
It was agreed that immediate enforcement operations would begin against individuals without legal residency documents. The deputy commissioner stated that Afghan nationals holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards had been given until July 31 to regularize their stay. With the deadline now passed, legal action will be initiated against those remaining unlawfully.
