The Boldak-Chaman border crossing point between Pakistan and Afghanistan reopened today after an agreement was reached with Afghan authorities, nearly a month after the border crossing was closed for pedestrians and trade by the Taliban.

Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan, announced in a tweet today that the Chaman-Boldak Gate is now open. He also added that the cross-border movement of Pedestrians and trade vehicles has started and Pakistan welcomes the Afghan fruit trucks moving to Pakistan.

The traders from both countries lauded the efforts of the officials who worked hard for the reopening of the border and stated that the opening of the Boldak-Chaman crossing point will have a direct impact on improving the economic situation of both the neighboring countries and promoting trade.

The decision is highly significant especially for the Afghan traders as it is the fruit harvest season in Afghanistan and the closure of the border crossing causes huge economic losses due to the spoilage of food.
